Is world domination far behind?
Dark Matter Technologies set out on its mission to revolutionize the mortgage industry with full-throttle innovation backed by seasoned leadership and time-tested technologies. In just 15 months, we’re happy to report “space superiority” with measurable achievements in product development and leading advances in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) technology.

We are now offering two distinct loan origination system platforms – the flagship Empower® loan origination system (LOS) and the NOVA LOS. Additionally, our Aiva® suite of virtual AI assistants (which can be integrated into the Empower ecosystem or work with other LOS platforms) are minimizing manual workloads for our customers to increase their accuracy and reduce turnaround times.
5-4-3-2-1
Dark Matter® launched with a clear vision for the future that is well articulated in our product and partner roadmaps. To ensure a smooth, uneventful transition for the banks, credit unions and independent mortgage banks that rely on Dark Matter, we made client success our top priority and we knew it would take a very special group of leaders to turn that vision into reality.
Our dream team was forged with Rich Gagliano at the helm as CEO and Sean Dugan as chief revenue officer. Gagliano’s steady vision for Dark Matter fast-tracked product innovation and deepened our market penetration. But like the universe, the only constant is change, and we recently announced a planned realignment for April 2025 that moves Gagliano to a new role as executive chairman and Dugan into the CEO role, ensuring continuity and stability for the company and our customers.
Speaking of which, we were extremely pleased to meet with so many of you – and garner your feedback – at our inaugural Horizon user conference. Held at Miami’s Fontainebleau resort last April, the two-day event rewarded the maxed-out 250 attendees with compelling thought leadership, valuable networking opportunities and a preview of our product horizon. (If you didn’t make it, be sure to register for Horizon 2025, April 23-25 on Amelia Island.)
Exploring our space
Becoming an independent company freed Dark Matter to forge our own identity — one that honors our past even as it blazes a trail. And as proud as we are of our decades of industry experience, what really motivates us is the leadership position we’ve taken in mortgage innovation.
The past year has seen an explosion of interest in AI/ML and automation, and through it all, we’ve been at the forefront of the conversation. That’s because at Dark Matter, AI/ML and automation are not theoretical concepts; they are applied disciplines we leverage every day to make mortgage lending more efficient and effective. We have deep roots in the mortgage industry and have worked with AI and ML for more than a decade with the goal of reshaping the mortgage industry landscape with seamless, efficient and automated experiences.
We’ve invested tens of millions in developing our suite of Aiva AI virtual assistants. We have a large team of AI data scientists on staff, including several Ph.D.s, who have worked with AI for decades.
That said, we achieved some exciting milestones in 2024:

Aiva Docs doubled its enterprise-wide scale while maintaining an impressive 99% SLA product accuracy and with 36 million labels extracted. This achievement sets a new benchmark for leveraging AI to handle rapid growth without sacrificing quality.

Aiva BI, which provides visibility into the wealth of data accumulated throughout the lending process, analyzed 8.7 billion rows of data from 2,343 active users, producing 1,500+ preconfigured metrics. That’s a huge milestone, providing our customers with actionable data insights for smarter, strategic decision-making.

Over 8 million transactions passed from our lenders to our integration and Exchange network partners, updated 54 existing integrations and supported 21 new integration partners.
And here’s our commitment moving forward: In 2025 we’re going to double down on refining our products, ensuring we continue to push the mortgage innovation envelope and bring you new and advanced ways to streamline production and boost office profitability.
This new star has risen
The foundation we’ve built in our first 15 months is strong, and the momentum we’ve gained inspires us to continue innovating at every turn.
With new product enhancements, strategic partnerships, and a relentless drive for excellence, Dark Matter is excited to embrace the challenges and opportunities of 2025 and beyond.
